Final Invitation

Vancouver will host the 39th IABSE Symposium on the exploration of topics related to structural engineering of buildings, bridges and other civil infrastructure. The Symposium will showcase the latest in technology and practice to enable engineers, researchers and public agencies to plan ahead. The Symposium Organisers invite the world’s structural engineers to share their experiences with contemporary structures and their vision for the future. The Symposium is intended for civil and structural engineers, architects and associated professionals interested in the latest achievements and developments in the research, design, construction, monitoring, maintenance and rehabilitation of civil engineering structures.

Symposium Format

The Scientific Program will include Plenary, Sub-Plenary and Concurrent Sessions over three full days. Panel Discussions and Poster Sessions will also be incorporated into the program. Papers covering different themes and topics of the Symposium will selected from abstracts submitted to the Scientific Committee. They will be presented orally or by poster.

At the Plenary Sessions, invited keynote speakers will present lectures on key Symposium topics. Sub-Plenary Sessions will examine specialized topics. Concurrent Sessions will be organized as Tracks based on the abstract and paper submissions to Scientific Committee. Specialty Tracks as well as Panel Discussions will be developed based on themes of widespread interest as identified from input from IABSE’s Working Groups and Working Commissions, from the Scientific Committee and from the Supporting Organizations. Posters will be organized to enable contact with the author of papers and authors will be available during Poster Sessions.

All technical sessions will take place on-site, within the conference facilities of the Westin Bayshore.

Participants

The Symposium is intended for civil and structural engineers, architects and associated professionals interested in the latest achievements and developments in the research, design, construction, monitoring, maintenance and rehabilitation of civil engineering structures. Participants will therefore include designers, consultants, researchers, educators, owners, contractors, operators, suppliers, representatives of regulatory authorities and any other persons interested in the Symposium themes and topics.

Language

The official language of the Symposium is English.
